Human behavior and action find their origin in the state of being. Compassion and Mindfulness are ways to a peaceful and loving realization of being. A peaceful and loving, conscious being enables coherence (coherence) to oneself, to others and to the world. Coherence thus acts as a key to a change in people's consciousness and behavior towards more understanding of themselves and other people, living beings and nature. 

Being coherent with oneself has social significance insofar as it is a prerequisite for coming into coherence with others as well. Being coherent is also a prerequisite for mindful guidance of students. 

In this project we investigate the effect of an intervention consisting of Qi-Gong and meditation on the heart formation of students and teachers at an elementary school. The project is accompanied by a scientific evaluation.

At the Neubergschule Dossenheim, our collaborative project to introduce Qigong at school began with a single grade 3 class. After so much positive feedback from the children, teachers and parents we have now expanded to multiple classes. The program now reaches around 200 students from classes 1 - 4, taking place weekly. We’ve introduced a unique Qi wave exercise to start sessions in the gym hall, fostering unity among the students and readying them for the session. 

Teachers have also expressed a positive connection between Qigong participation and improved school performance. One teacher said “The children can see for themselves the benefits of Qigong and use the exercises also outside of the session times….It also makes me feel calmer”.  The teach also reported that they’ve seen a remarkable difference in the performance within the classroom, reporting that “Class tests that are held directly after the Qigong show better results…Children with reading and writing difficulties without recent qigong had 17-20 mistakes in spelling tests, and after Qigong 0-1 mistakes (On two separate occasions).”

Our current goal is to run the program until August, with hopes for further extension based on its success .Looking forward, there are plans to extend the Qi gong initiative school-wide, potentially replacing the existing health program.
